Starbucks proves it has common sense, rather than caving in to ridiculous demands of the un-infortmed gun grabbers.

In order to avoid the possibility of further suspensions (I have friends here I want to keep hanging with), I am removing my usual amendment from ALL articles and seeds published henceforth. Since NV is private property, we will ALL follow their rules. To aid in this, I am letting all know how the rules are being interpreted by me on articles I am moderating. There will be STRICT enforcement of the CoH on ALL my main-Vine articles (NOT private group ones). Properly spell and use group and individual names. No more TEABaggers, Teapublicans, democraps, republiturds, Liberturdians, or other forms of deliberate and insulting references to members of political parties you don't like. ALL comments containing these or other similar phrases will be deleted. Other than using initials to shorten names, spell names correctly, and use them respectfully or expect to be deleted. Example- Joe Schmoe may ONLY be shortened to "JS". A name with two portions may be shortened (Neale Osborn to Neale or Osborn). Cursing is fine, we have filters for the people with a problem with them, but NO directed curses (@!$%# you, ______) will be tolerated. Expect deletion. Off-topic will be tolerated to an extent. it often adds a new dimension to the subject, or is just interesting. However, straying too far or for too long will result in a warning, and continuations may be deleted. ANYONE with policies on THEIR articles that allow spurious deletions will be treated to their own rules on MY articles (Assuming I know the policy they use). ANYONE with a problem with these rules may certainly appeal them to me OR the moderators (Sally and Tyler), but if the moderators run true to form, you'll probably wait a LOOOOONG time for a response. I will, of course, answer as swiftly as possible. Feel free to contact me with contact the author OR in posting to the article.

You are warned. Don't violate this in any way, or your post WILL disappear

Neale, this is really unexpected from Starbucks and completely appreciated. It should be stressed, judging from the comments below, that it was the "ban guns" crowd who fired the first shot with their letter threatening a boycott. I feel an urge for coffee and a sandwich.

I don't drink coffee. I don't like Starbucks sandwiches. So I had a cup of Hot Chocolate and a brownie there today!

Just tell him why. Then tell him you'll buy some, but you promise not to enjoy it!! If he's a Libertarian, he'll understand voting with your wallet, and forgive you.

Sorry, but only the gun lobby want to make guns an issue during this election cycle. Obama and the Dems havn't pushed a single bit of legislation at the national level to take issue with. Don't you want to talk about social issues like all the other conservatives?

FYI I shot a 239 at my last Navy pistol qualification if that means anything to you.

It means you're pretty fair with a pistol. 239 out of a possible 300 is not bad at all. As to Obama and crew not touching guns (yet), have you been asleep, or are you unaware of Operation Fast and Furious, aka Operation (or Project) Gunwalker?

And I'm not a conservative. I'm a Libertarian. That means that social issues that do not involve passing taxpayer dollars to non-workers find me on the liberal side. Pro gay rights, legalizing drugs and prostitution, relaxing immigration laws, and ending the idiotic war on terror.

Neale, I'm unaware of what either of those has to do with the right of American citizens to bear arms. Can you tell me how they're related?

239/240 was the standard I was shooting to Neal. (it was a pretty simple test)

Relinquishing our guns is a side show. The big enemy our country is money in politics and the current plutocracy.

Fly navy- OOPS! Most pistol competitions I have shot in wer to 300, where 239 would have been decent. 239/240 is frickin' awesome. How many "X" if I may ask?

Beau- the assertion has been made that most of the weapons of the Mexican narcotraficantes come from "strawman sales" in US gunshops. The belief was that gun shop owners would cheerfully ignore suspicious purchasers and make the sale to people who, for instance, came in every 6-7 days (to avoid themultiple sales reports required) and sell high capacity semi-auto rifles such as civillian AR and AK style rifles to these suspicious people. When shopowners were suspicious and tried to refuse the sales, or reported the activities to the ATF, they were ORDERED to make these illegal (or at the least highly questionable) sales. The ATF promptly LOST TRACK of over 1300 of the 2000+ weapons they allowed to "walk". One of these weapons was used to murder a Border Patrol Officer in 2009. Some of these guns have turtned up in murders of civillians and government officials south of the border. After ORDERING shopowners to violate the letter AND the spirit of the law, they then used those same sales to justify prohibiting multiple gun sales in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and a few other states very close to the border. Totally ignoring the good efforts of the shopowners. Totally ignoring the fact that 95% of the drg-traffickers guns are stolen police and military weapons from various South and Central American governments. YES they are weapons of US manufacture. But they are guns OUR GOVERNMENT sold or gave these weapons to allied governments, who then "lost" them to the drug traffickers. This is a brief overview of OF&F. Also, despite memos with Eric Holders signature on them to the contrary, he CLAIMS he hadn't heard of this until 2010. NOTE- I have not claimed it was TOTALLY Obama's plan- it was begun under the Texas Nitwit, Gerge W Bush. But Holder's Justice Department has been running it since 2009.

Wow, you're not kidding! I would certainly hope that there aren't too many who fail to qualify.

RT8 yes it was a pretty easy pistol qual for those that have done any shooting... And yes, there are those that don't qualify.....and I wouldn't want them with a piece as they would either shoot their foot off or mine.

I had one shot that contacted the nine ring using my weak hand. 93 "X" and the rest were 10 and 10-1X. I think I owe my success to having learned to shoot with the 1911. The M9 was much easier to control than the 1911 as I didn't have much "lead in my ass" when I was going through the qualification. I still wouldn't trade the Hatcher Rating of the 1911 if and when I really needed it.

Back to the topic at hand gents.... For some, firearms will always be the issue when it comes to their politics and I won't convince them otherwise. But the real issue is making sure the voters.... not quid pro quo is what matters in our national and state governments. What we have is far from perfect, but I'll take it over what is running a very distant second.

Regards

I don't believe that I've ever had a coversation or heard one that involves banning guns. The whole thing is a made up social issue that only pundits bring about. Jobs, jobs,jobs...
